Three Saint Francis High School graduates and the 1980 State Tournament Softball Team will be inducted into the Saint Francis High School Athletics/Activities Hall of Fame on Friday, September 22 at 5:00 pm in the Carlson/Foley Performing Arts Center at SFHS.
Maggie Ewen-2013 grad, Barrett Golyer-1994 grad, and Bruce Gleason-1976 grad, will join the 1980 Softball Team in the HOF. Previously, since 2009, thirty-six individuals and four first time State Tournament teams have been inducted. The Hall of Fame was established to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of former athletic/activity participants in high school, former coaches/activity advisors and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to activities programs at SFHS as well as graduates who have made great contributions in their field of endeavor to society as a whole.
Maggie holds many state track records and college records and is currently the National Champion and World Leader in the Shot Put. She will be competing in the World Championship Meet in Budapest on August 26-27.
Barrett was Region Champion in wrestling three years for the Fighting Saints, a four year lettermen in wrestling at the University of Minnesota and the Coach of the Year in Colorado in 2016.
Dr. Bruce Gleason has had a distinguished career in music beginning in high school and is currently a professor in the music education department at the University of St. Thomas. He has toured the World performing, has authored a book- Sound of Trumpet, Beat the Drums- and has published over fifty articles in music education and music history.
The 1980 Fighting Saints Softball team, coached by 2010 HOF Inductee Vern Gilbertson, won the Region Championship and participated in the State Tournament.
Everyone is invited to attend the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Following the program, the 2023 Inductees will be introduced at the Homecoming game beginning at 7:00 pm on the football field.
